Windows device driver information for BAFO USB-ATA/ATAPI Bridge Controller. The BAFO USB-ATA/ATAPI Bridge Controller is a device that falls under the category system and controller. The software package is 512 kb in size and was made available for consumers on August 3, 2001.
- The entry sounds correct; it would be replaced with Toshiba 1TB Crushpal (or whatever the branding was) once the SATA drive in there were recognized.
- The old HDD connected to the point the new system sees a USB to ATA/ATAPI Bridge, but no actual HDD is brought into the system. In Device Manager the Disk drives shown are: WDC WD50 WDWXG1ECONNA19 USB Device and WDC WD5000BPVT-75HXZT1.
- Solucion disco duro reconocido como USB to ATA/ATAPI Bridge.

I have a 2 TB WD hard drive mounted in a BlacX USB 3.0 to ATA/ATAPI bridge. This disk funtions properly for all actions except for performing a backup with Acronis TI build 6589. Other USB drives in use include WD MyBook drives and they perform properly with ATI. The BlacX is recognized in the ATI Windows environment and it can be selected and configured for the Backup but it will not execute. Instead hangs on the 'calculating time estimate' message. I have tried this drive on two separate Windows 10 machines with the same result. And to reiterate, the drive functions properly in all other respects and shows no abnormalities in Windows Disk Management.
Any suggestions?
Kenneth, how is the 2TB WD HDD formatted, is this GPT and NTFS or do you have different formatting?

Steve,
Thanks for the response. The HDD is formatted as NTFS.
Steve,
Another thing to point out is that this drive was successfully used for ATI Backups on my old HP laptop but then it was inserted into a BlacX with esata output. My new Dell XPS15 9560 does not have an esata input so I replaced that BlacX with the USB 3.0 to ATA/ATAPI bridge. There remain old backups from the HP in folders on the drive. I did not think that this would cause trouble since I have some old backups on one of the WD MyBooks and that is not an issue there.
I have succeeded with a work-around. I purchased an esata to usb 3.0 adapter and reinstalled my old BlacX esata dock with the same HDD. Everything now works! New BlacX usb 3.0 to ATA/ATAPI bridge will be returned to vendor.
This issue is resolved.
Kenneth, thanks for your perservence and for providing feedback on the conclusion of this issue. Glad to hear that you got this working albeit with a different adapter.
